Dr. Gladys Pack

Dr. Gladys Pack began her career as an elementary school teacher and then as a school psychologist in Yonkers, New York. Dr. Pack served as the Yonkers Public Schools Assistant Superintendent for Program Development and Restructuring for 15 years, designing the district’s 38 magnet schools at all grade levels. She developed and implemented successful Magnet Schools Assistance Program, 21st Century Community Learning Centers, Smaller Learning Communities, Safe Schools and Healthy Students, and FLAP grants, as well as a Pew Foundation grant that studied the implementation of national education standards. Dr. Pack has conducted workshops in Magnet Standards, Developing Magnet Schools, and Grant Writing. She has also worked with school districts around the country in the implementation of their magnet schools. Dr. Pack served as Coordinator for the New York State Education Department’s Preparing Teachers of Tomorrow to Use Technology federal grant and currently works with the Department of Technology and School Change at the Teachers College, Columbia University.
She has a PhD. from Fordham University in Education Administration and Education Policy, is a member of Phi Beta Kappa, and is a Fellow in the National Education Leadership Program. Dr. Pack has served on the Board of Directors of Magnet Schools of America, Sarah Lawrence Early Childhood Program, and is the past president of Magnet Schools of New York.
