Biography


Dr. Kim Morrison is currently the Superintendent at Mt. Airy City Schools, where she implements STEAM (Science, Technology, Arts, Engineering, and Mathematics) district-wide. Previously, she worked in the fifth largest school district in North Carolina growing the district from seven schools to over seventeen schools in less than five years. She has worked with magnet schools for the last ten years, implementing Magnet Schools Assistance Program (MSAP) funded schools as well as locally-funded schools. She has helped bring in over $20 million dollars of federal grants to support innovative schools and works with districts all over the country to implement strong magnet programs. Programs she initiated and implemented have won national awards including the Dr. Ronald P. Simpson award, the top magnet school award in the nation. She was one of two finalists for the American Association of School Administrators, “Women in School Leadership Awards.” 

Outside of her career, Dr. Morrison is most proud of her role as mother to two boys, Kaleb and Eli, with her husband Tommy. She enjoys playing the piano and reading and directs both summer Bible school programs as well as Wednesday night adult and children’s classes.
