Magnet Schools of America Congratulates Top Merit Award Winner
Washington, D.C., May 11, 2010- Magnet Schools of America, the national association for magnet and theme-based schools, congratulates all of the magnet schools recognized as Distinction and Excellence award winners at the 2010 Magnet Schools of America National Conference in Tampa, Florida, May 2-5.
We especially congratulate C.V.T. Gilbert Elementary Magnet School for Communications and Creative Arts, from the Clark County School District in Las Vegas, NV as the top magnet school in the country for 2010, receiving the prestigious Dr. Ronald P. Simpson Distinguished Merit Award along with a cash award of $5,000.
 "CVT Gilbert Elementary School continues to exceed its goals and joins the prestigious list of top magnet schools across the country. Gilbert is a unique school in the heart of the Las Vegas community with a very stable staff, parent, and student population, said Dr. Robert Brooks, Executive Director."Â

Sherri Brewer. "On behalf of Gilbert students, faculty and parents, I thank Magnet Schools of
America for this recognition and I am filled with pride to share it with our community."
The award recognizes MSA founding member Dr. Ronald P. Simpson, who made a positive
impact on Missouri magnet schools and was established to commemorate his contributions to the
MSA organization.Â
Other major award winners for 2010 include: Smith Academy of International Languages, the Dr. Donald Waldrip Elementary Award of $2,500, sponsored by Magnet Schools of America; and Davidson IB Middle School, the Secondary School Award of $2,500 sponsored by American Education Solutions, Croton on Hudson, NY.  Both schools are from Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, NC. Chattanooga School for the Liberal Arts, Chattanooga, TN, Elementary School Award of $2,500, sponsored by DKH Consulting Services, Largo, FL; and Garlough Environmental Magnet School won $1,000 for the New & Emerging Magnet Award sponsored by Hogan Lovells, Washington, D.C.Â
