Conferences and Events

Professional Development and Leadership Conferences

Magnet Schools of America (MSA) believes in the educational investment in our leaders and educators. We endeavor to provide enriching professional development by way of conferences and events throughout the year to build and expand their expertise and skills.

Policy Training Conference

Held every February in the nation’s capital during National Magnet School Month, the Policy Training Conference assists magnet school professionals in understanding the complex federal, state and local policy issues that influence magnet school programs. Political leaders and policy experts provide guidance and analysis on matters related to:

  • Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA),
  • Common Core Standards,
  • Federal education funding,
  • legal and civil rights issues, and
  • emerging educational research.

Attendees visit Capitol Hill and meet with their congressional representatives to raise awareness on the need for and value of magnet schools.

National Conference on Magnet Schools

Registration is closed for the 2024 Annual National Conference.

Fall Technical Assistance and Training Conference

Strategic planning, grant writing, staff development, curriculum and instruction, student assessment, and school leadership are the focus of the annual fall conference. The program is designed to assist district level and school level administrators responsible for creating, expanding, or improving magnet schools.

MSA Webinar Series

At MSA, we believe providing online enrichment and professional development is as integral to our members as are our in-person conferences. Our annual webinar series provides online professional development for principals, teachers, magnet coordinators and administrators. Topics focus on school leadership, curriculum and theme development, project-based learning, technology integration, and much more.

MSA’s workshops go in-depth on one topic, to allow you to become an expert in that area in just a few days.

The MSAP Asynchronous Writers Workshop is designed to equip educators, administrators, and stakeholders with the essential tools and knowledge needed to successfully navigate the application process for the Magnet Schools Assistance Program (MSAP) Grant in 2024.
